Robert Spencer is a noted scholar of Islamic theology, law, and history, and the Director of Jihad Watch, a project of the David Horowitz Freedom Center. He has written seven books and a number of other important works about Jihad and Islamic terrorism. He holds a Master of Arts in Religious Studies, and is an adjunct fellow with the Free Congress Foundation.

In his remarks, he briefly discussed how Muslims use the Fog of Deception to conceal the true intent of Islam, and how government officials and news media offer their full and unquestioned cooperation in doing so. But are Muslims truly deceiving citizens of western civilization about their true intent for migrating to the whole of Western Europe and the United States? Is repudiation of the vows of citizenship, permitted under Islamic law?

But are Muslims truly deceiving citizens of western civilization about their true intent for migrating to the whole of Western Europe and the United States? Is repudiation of the vows of citizenship, permitted under Islamic law?
Both the Qu’ran and Qu’ranic scholars speak volumes about the legitimacy of deception, but here is a small sampling that westerners might consider:
“The Prophet said, ‘If I take an oath and later find something else better than that, then I do what is better and expiate my oath.” — Sahih Bukhari
“Allah and His Messenger dissolve obligations.”— Qu’ran, 9:3
“Allah has already sanctioned for you the dissolution of your vows.”— Qu’ran, 66:2
“Allah’s Apostle said, ‘War is deceit.”— Sahih Bukhari
“Surely the hypocrites strive to deceive Allah. He shall retaliate by deceiving them.”—Qu’ran 4:142
Additionally, Mr. Spencer demonstrated that such leaders as George Bush, Tony Blair, and Gordon Brown frequently use Qu’ranic scripture to reaffirm their appreciation for Islam as a religion of peace — but that in every single case, they use the Suras selectively and are therefore incomplete. For example, the verse recently used by President Bush to demonstrate the tolerance of Muslims for Christians and Jews came from Sura 5, Chapter 32, which states:
“On that account: We ordained for the Children of Israel that if anyone slew a person - nless it be for murder or for spreading mischief in the land - it would be as if he slew the whole people: and if any one saved a life, it would be as if he saved the life of the whole people. Then although there came to them Our Messengers with Clear Signs, Yet, even after that, many of them continued to commit excesses in the land.”
For the moment, ignore the implication that Christians and Jews need to be “tolerated,” and focus instead on what Mr. Bush conveniently or ignorantly omitted. The subsequent verse presents a much clearer picture of the truer nature of Islam.
“The punishment of those who wage war against Allah and His Messenger, and strive with might and main for mischief through the land is: execution, or crucifixion, or the cutting off of hands and feet from opposite sides, or exile from the land: that is their disgrace in this world, and a heavy punishment is theirs in the Hereafter;”
Now in understanding what is meant by “. . . of those who wage war,” it clearly addresses anyone who fails to “submit” to Islam — a claim that any Islamic scholar will validate. Contrary to what Islamic leaders and our own government officials would like us to believe, the migration of Muslims to other shores is for but one purpose: the infiltration and eventual destruction of western society through the institution of Shar’ia Law. Even if one happens to ignore the fact that the election of Muslims to the House of Representatives now demands the swearing of Oaths upon the Qu’ran — oaths easily expiated, according to this Law — it is time to lift this fog of deception.
A question remains, “how should we accomplish this convincingly?” There is a tendency among Americans — and others, to scoff at the concerns of their fellow citizens. Too many people claim that concerns, such as mine, are the result of Islamophobia. Either I am possessed of a remarkable imagination, or I have grown paranoid about the intent of Muslims. So it occurs to me that one convincing way to demonstrate the danger confronting free society is to lift this fog of deceit; we can do that by citing the intent of Muslims according to their own words. Remember, these are the words of respected Muslim leaders and scholars, and they are strictures that all Muslims must obey.
“Islam is advancing according to a steady plan, to the point that tens of thousands of Muslims have joined the American army and Islam is the second largest religion in America. America will be destroyed. But we must be patient.” — Saudi professor Nasser bin Suleiman al Omar.
“We did not occupy the US with eight million Muslims using bombings. Had we been patient and let time take its course, instead of the eight million there could have been eighty million, and 50 years later, perhaps, the US would have become [entirely] Muslim.” — Saudi Sheikh Said al Qahtani.
“Be dissociated from the infidels, hate them for their religion, leave them, never rely on them for support, do not admire them, and always oppose them in every way according to Islamic law. There is consensus on this matter, that whoever helps unbelievers against Muslims, regardless of what type of support he lends to them, he is an unbeliever himself. Never greet the Christian or Jew first. Never congratulate the infidel on his holiday. Never befriend an infidel unless it is to convert him. Never imitate the infidel. Never work for an infidel.“ — Cultural Department, Embassy of Saudi Arabia in Washington, D. C.
Meanwhile, Mr. Spencer assures us, our own government leaders and the accommodating media continue their vain search for the ever-elusive moderate Muslim, which men like President Bush no doubt define as any Muslim who is not actively engaged in a terrorist act. It is the Muslim plan, enumerated in several texts, including the statements of those who drove aircraft into the World Trade Center, that American democracy is but one tool of many by which to achieve their conquests.
Mr. Spencer suggests that the moderate Muslim is like the Great Unicorn. Everyone talks about it, but no one has ever seen it. And the reason for this is simple: It is the responsibility of the true adherent to Islam to subdue the infidel. Islamic logic is simple: Muslims emphatically believe the Qu’ran, and the Qu’ran demands the subjugation of the infidel. That would be us, by the way. Ergo, there is no “moderate” Muslim, if indeed he is a true Muslim.
It is amazing to me that President Bush and other leaders in the Western World refuse to acknowledge the truth of what is happening. Indeed, Mr. Bush is prancing around the Saudis like a little girl in a tutu — and the greatest evidence of this is our government’s refusal to demand closure of Wahhabist madrassahs in Northern Virginia and other locations from one end of this country to the other. I can assure you that if anyone opened a Christian academy that taught students to hate and seek out Muslims and mutilate them, the entire weight of the U. S. government would descend upon them in short order.
If government leaders refuse to listen to such experts as Mr. Spencer, then they should at least pay attention to the words of Muslims themselves. In doing so, the Fog of Deception will finally be lifted.
